About the Project

The internet is great at cat videos and not great at stopping misinformation.

I don't have the stomach or the backbone to try to combat the misinformation that circulates about events today, but I do have the skillset to combat the misinformation around the Civil War and slavery. The only way to combat misinformation is with accurate information. 

My goal is to present primary documents to avoid bias whenever possible. 

About the Images

Sketches are typically by Edwin Forbes, a sketch artist for Leslie's Weekly. Photos are typically from the Liljenquist Family Collection of Civil War Photographs. Those not from that collection link back to the original source.

Images outside of those two sources will link back to their original source. 

About Me

My name is Chandra Prater. I'm a senior at Evergreen State College.

This started as a school project, but snowballed out of control very quickly, and became a personal project. It is now part of my work to promote primary documents and historic newspapers as educational tools as a way to bring awareness to their need for preservation. I may be training to be a historian but I am an archivist at heart.
